Years later, the trio reunited in Pandit Girish Chatterjee’s native Kolkata to launch Gharana Kirana Vol. 2. The evening culminated in a concert by Pandit Girish and his brother Ashish, dedicated to the memory of poet Kaifi Azmi in tribute to his daughter Shabana Azmi.

At Mukesh Hyundai Studios in Mumbai, Pandit Girish Chatterjee is pictured with director Vinay Shukla and composer Monty Sharma during the recording of the 2010 film Mirch. He made history as the first Bengali artist to write, compose, and sing for a Bollywood feature—a landmark in his storied career. Accompanied by his brother on tabla, whose rhythmic expertise added depth and dynamism to the evening, the brothers created a moving homage. The performance was a profound celebration of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi's enduring legacy, leaving the audience deeply touched and inspired by the brothers’ dedication to Indian classical music.

Priyatash Saha, former Consul General of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Los Angeles, and Maklin Chowdhury, Trustee of the Bangladesh Writers’ Association of Los Angeles, jointly honored Pandit Girish Chatterjee and his brother Pandit Ashish Chatterjee by launching the artist’s inaugural international album in Bengali. Maklin Chowdhury served as lyricist, while Pandit Ashish Chatterjee composed the music.

These distinguished accolades recognized him as an “Outstanding” individual in the community and were accompanied by an official commendation from the Mayor’s office. The awards celebrated his profound contributions to the arts, his global influence, and his unwavering dedication to promoting Indian classical music worldwide.

Former U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu of California’s 27th District presented Pandit Girish Chatterjee with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition, honoring his exceptional excellence and distinguished achievements. The award celebrated his transformative contributions to the arts and his steadfast commitment to elevating Indian classical music in California.

Pandit Girish Chatterjee was invited to deliver a lecture-demonstration at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Los Angeles. His address to NASA’s scientists & engineers was followed by a Q&A and a captivating musical performance, warmly received by the distinguished audience. He is the first Bengali artist to be honored with such an engagement in NASA’s 75-year history.
